Cumulus

From Club Penguin Music

Cumulus, also known as Float in the Clouds, is an original song from Club Penguin composed by Chris Hendricks[1] and intended for the Festival of Flight. It was the main theme used in the party and the last song Chris composed for it, following a similar instrumentation to that of Cumulonimbus, as well as using the pan flute like it was done in Nimbus.

Uses[edit]

There are two versions of the song, the normal one, and a harpless version, which Chris did later at the team's request [2].

Usage Date Info Reference(s)
Festival of Flight August 14 - 20 2009 The main theme of the party, playing in the Town, Docks, Beach, Beacon, Ski Village, Mountain, Cove, Forest, Plaza, Snow Forts, Underground and Iceberg.
Igloo Music January 29 - March 25 2010 It was released as "Float in the Clouds". [3]
Club Penguin: Game Day! September 17 2010 Plays in the cutscene after you conquer the island with a single team.
The Shore January 17 - 31 2011 In the Wilderness Expedition 2011, a harp-less version of this song would play in "The Shore" room.

Trivia[edit]

  • The harp arpeggios at the beginning are similar to those used in the menu of early Final Fantasy games. Although Chris has played Final Fantasy VI many times, this similarity was unintentional, and perhaps unconscious.
  • On Chris' opinion, the conversion to mono for the flash compression greatly affected the song's quality.
