Random Music

From Club Penguin Music

"Random music" refers to the practice in which Club Penguin music would be played at a randomly generated order. The practice began very early in Club Penguin's history, dating as early as the first song used in Club Penguin, King of Kingston, in 2005, and proceeded to be used for a few years until it was eventually dropped. It is unknown the exact reasons for why it happened, but since the early pieces of Club Penguin music were acquired in the form of "loops" from stock music, this likely was what kickstarted the practice, but it continued in use shortly after the first hire songs were made. It was eventually was dropped, and by 2008, the practice had not been used in any further songs.

According to Chris Hendricks, this was initially done to simulate streaming, due to connection limitations [1]. However, it is unsure if this is true, since the file serving likely served all files at once regardless, so this reasoning is disputed.
